David Jacobs was convicted and sentenced two 3 years probation for distributing steroids to NFL players. Jeff Klauk will be one of the top 3 PGA Nationwide tour leaders to come to Fort Wayne on June 9th for the Annual Mad Anthony’s Charity Classic For Children. Darron Stiles and David Mathis the other two PGA money leaders will also be in attendance. This years golf tournament will bring in a whole host of PGA Pros , a total of 19 to be exact. Usually when you hear people speaking of travel destinations they are talking about the more common known tourist locations. Places like the beaches of Miami, Orlando’s Disney World, Branson Missouri, Vale Colorado or other well-known travel destinations are what usually come to mind. Fort Wayne Indiana is the furthest place from their mind.
Most people would never consider calling Fort Wayne Indiana a traveldestination however for many in northeast Indiana, northwest Ohio and Southern Michigan that’s exactly what it. I know there aren’t any amusement parks, water parks, or other large attraction that usually grabs the attention of travelers, but Fort Wayne does have its appeal. This has been a huge month for Indiana sports fans. Several notable sports news items have placed Fort Wayne and other Indiana towns on the national stage. Fort Wayne makes the news with the Fort Wayne Komets winning the IHL Turner Cup Finals. The Comets beat the Port Huron Ice hawks in a triple overtime battle on 5/12/08 to claim the IHL 2000 Championship. The Komets had to over come a 3-1 deficient in the playoffs, but came back to win the series 3-2.
